SKU: ORA-FISH-GOBY-TIGB Category:

The Tiger Goby is a small fish with a silver body and stunning vertical black stripes going down the length of its body. Despite being a small fish, the contrast between the silver body and the black stripes is beautiful and unique. It’s not a pattern you see often.  These vertical black stripes are why it is called a Tiger Goby. Although this fish is a tropical fish originating from Florida to the northern coast of South America, these specimens sold here are captive-bred by ORA.  In the wild, this fish is found in rocky, intertidal areas and near-shore reef habitats. This fish is peaceful and reef safe. It is best to keep it with other peaceful fish. If you plan on keeping this fish with semi-aggressive fish, be sure to add it before the aggressive fish. This gives the peaceful Tiger Goby a chance to establish itself before a more territorial fish does. This makes it less stressful (although still stressful) to have a semi-aggressive fish in the aquarium.

More Information

Because this fish is captive-bred by ORA, it is better for you and the ocean than its wild-caught counterpart. Captive-bred fish are hardier, more disease resilient, better able to handle the stress of shipping, and better adapted to aquarium life than wild-caught fish. Purchasing captive-bred fish such as this Tiger Goby benefits the ocean because it discourages the harmful wild-caught fish trade while supporting the captive-bred industry. This makes our wonderful hobby more sustainable!
